NoFall: a unique website for a unique business
We’re proud to share the story of NoFall, a business that directly empowers people with disabilities by providing a secure way to ice skate. NoFall produces a unique oval rail that lets individuals skate without the risk of falling, which enables people of all abilities to participate in ice skating activities.
NoFall’s fall protection technique was initially developed with figure skating in mind, but it expanded as they saw additional positive results.
“Seeing the excitement and joy of athletes on the ice inspired us to make skating accessible to everyone,” notes Suzanna, NoFall’s marketing coordinator.
Now focused on making ice skating more accessible, NoFall expanded its concept to include para-skating.
A real impact
“Before NoFall, ice skating was inaccessible to many individuals with disabilities,” remarks Suzanna, “but now they can participate in a meaningful and empowering way.”
NoFall’s experience is supported by research, including a study from the University of Gothenburg that identified improvement in the self-esteem and well-being of children with disabilities who participated in ice skating using NoFall’s technology.
Beyond studies, the team has seen the positive impact of their tech first-hand.
“Many of our users have expressed how amazing it feels to finally participate in something that was previously out of reach for them, and we get frequent requests from people who want to try skating for the first time,” shares Suzanna.
For NoFall, the enthusiasm and demand highlight how much this equipment has transformed accessibility in ice sports.
The road to success has not been without challenges, however. The organisation has struggled with getting recognition and funds to equip ice skating facilities with their devices.
“Our target group lacked a clear spokesperson for advocacy, and getting resources was a hurdle,” states Suzanna.
However, the team persevered and now more than 40 facilities are equipped with their training tools.
